DGGS GCSE and A Level Artists and Designers Take a Trip to Paris

Over the May Bank Holiday weekend, a group of Year 10 GCSE Art students and A Level Fine Art students travelled to Paris for an unforgettable four-day art and cultural visit. Despite temperatures reaching a sweltering 35°C, the students showed remarkable resilience and enthusiasm as they explored some of the world's most celebrated artistic and historical sites.

The trip provided a wealth of inspiration and first-hand research opportunities for students' current course work projects. Highlights included visiting Monet's gardens at Giverny, viewing masterpieces in the Musée d'Orsay and the Musée Marmottan Monet, exploring the sculptures of the Musée Rodin, and experiencing contemporary art at the Palais de Tokyo and Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris.

Students also enjoyed a river cruise along the Seine, visits to the Eiffel Tower and Montmartre, and the chance to sketch, photograph and immerse themselves in the unique atmosphere of the French capital. The experience has already had a significant impact on students' work back in the classroom.

Both GCSE and A Level students returned with sketchbooks full of observations, photographs, ideas and research that will help inform and develop their current projects. The trip was a fantastic success and demonstrated the creativity, maturity and determination of all the students involved.
