Tate Britain Trip
On Wednesday 27th November, the Year 12 and 13 A Level students travelled to Tate Britain to see the Turner Prize exhibition. The exhibition features the work of four shortlisted British artists: Jasleen Kaur, Pio Abad, Claudette Johnston and Delaine Le Bas. The exhibition included installations, mixed media sculptures and soundscapes, as well as more traditional painting and drawings. Year 12 focused on Claudette Johnston who creates large scale paintings celebrating Black British identity, and completed a series of sketches in the gallery, which will form the basis of further studies back in the classroom. Year 13 used the day to collect further artists' studies to support their personal investigations. Students engaged with the work brilliantly and produced a series of fabulous sketchbook pages when we got back to school. Thanks also to Mrs Best who kindly joined us on this trip!
